Manager, Information Technology

Healthcare Communications Group (“HCG'), located in El Segundo, California, is one of the nation’s most respected pharmaceutical clinical trials consulting and communications organizations. The Opportunity
You will be the contact person for all employee hardware and software needs. You will also work with the Executive Team, mapping corporate needs with available technologies and planning strategies to meet Company technology goals.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining, monitoring and enhancing the local area network and remote accessibility systems, based primarily on the Microsoft Platform
  • Managing a small team of IT professionals and consultants
  • Telecommunications systems
  • Providing technical support to all employees at all levels
  • Maintaining and improving a general, cohesive IT systems disaster recovery plan
  • Evaluating hardware, software and telecommunications equipment and recommending purchases consistent with the company's short and long term objectives
  • Qualifying and selecting outside IT vendors with whom you will work

Qualifications
Hands-on experience with the following is required:

  • A minimum of five years' experience performing various aspects of IT in a corporate environment
  • Systems troubleshooting
  • Disaster recovery
  • Hardware and software installation
  • Network hubs, routers, firewalls, and switches
  • Anti-virus software

Requirements
The position requires proficiency in the following technologies:

  • 5+ years Windows desktop and server platforms including Windows 2000/2003 Server, Windows XP Pro
  • 5+ years Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or 2007
  • 3+ years Veritas Backup Exec
  • 4+ years Telecommunications (TI/DSL and PBX)
  • 5+ years Firewalls/Routers/Switches
  • 5+ years Desktop and Server Hardware
  • 5+ years Active Directory and Group Policies
  • 5+ years TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS
  • Database experience a plus (SQL, Access)

Non-technical requirements:

  • Energetic, self-motivated, strong work ethic, high standards, positive response to challenges ... a "can-do" attitude!
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of employees, management, and vendors
  • Uncompromising commitment to customer service
  • Ability to troubleshoot, solve problems and explain solutions to all levels of employees
  • Ability to handle pressure in a professional manner
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to work occasional nights and weekends

Education:

  • BA, BS in computer science, information systems or related field
  • IT certification, MCSE, MCSE 2003
