Art Director

The Opportunity
Healthcare Communications Group (“HCG”), located in El Segundo, California, is a leading pharmaceutical clinical trials consulting and communications organization. HCG assists global pharmaceutical companies in more efficiently recruiting patients for their FDA-mandated clinical studies. HCG utilizes economic/feasibility analysis as well as innovative television, radio, print and community outreach to drive its global subject enrollment campaigns. Accelerating these clinical trials allows life-changing medications to be approved and available to the public more quickly. HCG has built a history of success by delivering measurable value for its clients and offering a stimulating, performance-based work environment for management teams. HCG is currently seeking a full time Art Director to join their creative team.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and develop concepts collaboratively with the Marketing Director and project management
  • Responsible for the design and layout of all client and in-house print and web materials
  • Manage print and web production from concepts through development, refinement and final press production
  • Coordinate the daily needs of multiple projects
  • Maintain sales, print and deliverables library
  • Support proposal development and sales team needs
  • Prioritize client deliverables and existing projects and provide time line/project hour estimates
  • Forecast additional resource needs and source additional assistance when needed
  • Manage printing process by obtaining multiple quotes, managing time lines, handling proofs through approval process, and attending press checks when necessary
  • Source and purchase stock photography and branded items for client deliverables and corporate programs

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a 4-year degree in Design or Visual Arts and have a strong consumer-oriented design portfolio. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience working as an Art Director or Assistant Art Director. Must have strong effective communication and management skills. Healthcare/Medical experience preferred but not required.

Qualified candidates will be skilled in handling challenging customer and vendor circumstances and possess the ability to work under strict deadlines and daily “service-model” pressure. Positive attitude, social skills, and attention to detail are imperative.

Education
BA in Design (or equivalent degree in visual arts)
